The Journey of an Image (Paris or Naples)
A hands-on workshop in street, film and digital photography
A one-day workshop that bridges film and digital photography. From buying and loading your first roll to shooting in the streets and developing at home, you’ll leave with your own negatives, scans, and new confidence in approaching people.
Workshop Goals
- Discover the connections and differences between film and digital.
- Explore the city and practice street photography.
- Learn how to approach people with sensitivity and respect.
- Zone focusing to speed the manual focusing on the street.
- Understand the full process: from buying film to shooting, developing, and scanning.
- Leave with tangible results: your developed negatives and digital scans.
Workshop Schedule
Morning
1. Welcome & Introduction (30 min)
- Getting to know each other and workshop goals.
2. Film & Cameras (30 min)
- We’ll buy a black-and-white roll together.
- Load the camera, review exposure, shutter speeds, apertures, manual focus and zone focusing for street photography.
3. Street Photography Walk (2h30)
- Photo walk through lively and characteristic parts of the city.
- Practical exercises: observation, scene selection, approaching people.
- Parallel digital practice: shooting with intention, as if every frame were film.
Lunch break (independent or shared)
Afternoon
4. From Shooting to Development (2h30)
- Back to my home-based darkroom.
- Step-by-step film development.
- Scanning the negatives.
5. Sharing & Closing (1h)
- Group viewing of the photos.
- Personalized feedback and tips.
- Each participant leaves with their own negatives and scans.
Note: If you’d like to shoot more and finish your roll later, we can schedule the development in a second session, giving you more time to practice with my guidance

Special Highlights
- At the end of the session, the most evocative photo from each participant will be selected and featured in the "Alumni" album.
- Each participant will also receive a leather camera strap, model “Simple”, as a keepsake of the day.
